Luggage trolleys are plentiful and free at Gatwick. Trolley access is excellent throughout the airport, and you can move easily between North and South Terminals, and to the Terminal car parks without abandoning your trolley. Full access is also available from the Terminals to the Coach and Rail Stations.
The only place where you might want to abandon your trolley and carry your baggage is between the ticket hall and the platform area of the Railway Station. There are lifts as well as escalators to the platforms, however.
