Train to Gatwick

London Gatwick is rapidly evolving into a natural hub for a fully integrated transport system and has always had an advantageous rail link to the centre of London 28 miles away. For many travellers rail will be the most convenient way of reaching or leaving Gatwick, and franchising of the former British Rail network has brought choice and competitive prices to passengers.

Six companies offer rail services to the airport - Gatwick Express, Connex South Central, Connex South Eastern, Thameslink, Thames Trains and Cross Country. All use Gatwick Airport's own Rail Station which is easily accessible from both Terminals, being adjacent to South Terminal and connected by rolling walkway and the automatic rapid transit system to North Terminal.

The Rail Travel Centre, situated on the Rail Station concourse, provides advice on all rail journeys throughout Britain and Europe, and sells advance tickets and reservations. There is also an information desk on the concourse. Tickets for immediate travel are bought from the ticket desks, on the right of the concourse as you enter from the airport, or from automatic machines. One ticket desk is for Fast Track customers only.

You might find it more convenient for your onward journey to take a train that goes to a London main line station other than Victoria. You can get to Waterloo, Charing Cross and King's Cross direct from Gatwick.

Both Terminals are easily accessible from the Rail Station. South Terminal is directly connected, and North Terminal is reached via a moving walkway and the automatic rapid transit system. It would be wise to allow 10 minutes to get to the required rail platform from the North Terminal.

Train to Gatwick

Passengers who are travelling from Victoria to fly with British Airways or American Airlines have the option of checking in at the Station. Check-in facilities open at 06:00 for all flights that day, so you can leave your heavy luggage and spend a couple of hours in London before a leisurely journey by rail to Gatwick Airport. British Airways also act as agents for Air Zimbabwe, British Airways Express, Deutsche BA, GB Airways, Maersk Air, Emirates and Royal Nepal Airlines, and the Victoria check-in is available to passengers flying with any of these airlines.

Rail connection to London's Victoria Station is a 24 hour service but, of course, the frequency of the trains is reduced in the small hours of the night.
