Shuttle buses operate regularly between North and South Terminals from 05:30 to 22:30 daily. Outside these hours, and in some other cases, you will have to follow 'Arrivals' and change Terminals via the automatic rapid transit system.
Baggage not through-checked to your final destination must be collected at Gatwick and checked-in again for the onward flight.
It is not necessary to use the rapid transit system between 05:30 and 22:30 as a coach shuttle service is provided for transferring passengers.
For Flight Connections that depart from the other Terminal, it makes life a lot easier if your luggage is through-checked. If the time between connections is not enough to ensure that you and your bags arrive at the same time in the same place, you will probably wish to collect your baggage at Gatwick and check it in again for your onward flight.
