Heathrow Arrivals

Heathrow often greets its visitors with a grey day, but its unrivalled approach and landing installations mean it very seldom has to turn them away. Business travelers arriving on early morning flights commonly have the frustration of spending time in the holding pattern awaiting landing clearance as the night's procession of long haul jumbo's streams in, but if you're a long haul passenger you probably prefer it that way! Delays due to air traffic congestion are worst early in the day and around tea time, but rarely exceed 30 - 45 minutes. If you are traveling on a domestic flight at these times, you would be well advised to build an extra hour into your schedule if possible. Once your aircraft is on the ground you will find that Heathrow is one of the world's best airports for allowing you to get through the necessary formalities and on your way.

Meeting a friend, or colleague? On average, domestic passengers will take 15 minutes to reach a rendezvous point after the indicated landing time, and international passengers will take an average of 40 minutes. Landing times are indicated on the Arrivals screens.

Unlicensed drugs, offensive weapons, obscene material and counterfeit goods are totally prohibited from import to the UK. There are severe penalties imposed on smugglers.

If you know or suspect somebody is involved in drug smuggling, you can make a free, confidential report to HM Customs officers on 0800 595000.

Dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, rats and gerbils are among species that must have a British Import (Rabies) license. If you need more details about quarantine requirements for live animals call 01813304411.
