Visitors to the UK are advised to confirm with the British Embassy in their home country as to whether a visa is required for their visit. The issue of a visa can require several days, so apply as early as possible. Under the terms of recent legislation, any visitor wishing to claim political asylum or refugee status must do so on entering the UK as any delay will probably disqualify from Social Security financial support.
