Onward and Return Travel

The air traveller is certainly spoilt for choice with the number of options for getting away from, and back to, Heathrow. In fact, the options are so numerous they can become bewildering, and consequently many people simple opt to take a cab. That might indeed be your best way of reaching your final destination, but very often there will be a quicker or cheaper alternative.

Perhaps you are going to be met by a colleague, or family friend, and need to arrange a suitable rendezvous without incurring heavy parking fees or worse having the car towed away by Police. Whatever your preferred method of travel, it will be available to you at Heathrow somehow, somewhere.

The main alternatives for onward and return travel to Heathrow are: Flight Connection; Personal Collection; Walking or Cycling; Car Rental; Hotel Courtesy Transport; Taxi Cab; London Underground (Tube); Local Bus and Coach Services; Limo Bus; Train.

In addition to your own preferences for comfort, privacy and cost, there are local considerations which may affect the onward and return travel choice. Although Heathrow Airport is only 15 miles (24km) from the centre of London, the road journey will take at least an hour during the business day, and often considerably longer. A summer's day cab journey into London will see you arrive a few pounds lighter in weight (air-con does not feature in most London cabs) and many pounds lighter in money. At other times, though, a cab will be your best bet, especially if you have a lot of baggage or restricted mobility.
